User-Contributed Transcription Osawatomie, KS June 6/88Anna dear, You are a precious little sister for writing so often and so fully. Your card was warmly welcomed last evening when John came from town. He went on horseback, so we could not go, we would not probably, if we could as we had washing on hand. He also brought letters from Clinton & Olpe. All well. E. writes that he did as well as he expected, but did not think that he was the successful one. We will see, Commencement week. At all events, I am glad he made the effort. It is well spoken of in the Herald, a copy of which, cousin Jennie sent. Have you seen a notice of the speaking? Eddie has had an opportunity to show what he can do, & it has brought him into the notice of good judges outside.
