User-Contributed Transcription in the house that escaped the frost was where the coal stove is, and one night there the plants that were on the lower step froze. It is well for us such exceedingly cold weather does not continue long. I wish you could get more southern views if you find any pretty ones and it will not be too much of a tax on your time - if you can I will send money to you to pay for them - but if you have not strength to look for any I hope you will not. We are very glad you are not so much taxed this term.We had letters lately from Elizabeth and Hattie. Hattie had been sick with lung fever - she did not go out of the house for seven week. Was getting well when she wrote - the rest were well.I got, as John Eddie says, on the Christmas tree, a pin from br. Eddie, lace collar, from Jane, embroidered handkerchief from Tommy, and doz. views from Anna and Sarah, a mat from Maggie. Please write soon to sister Jennie Everett
