User-Contributed Transcription Remsen Oct. 4. 81?Dear Brother,After writing my card I thought as there is plenty of time I had better write a letter. We had a card from Mate yesterday - the boys were busy learning pieces to speak and so could not write. George is with with them nearly every night and Mate had been visiting and having company a good deal and so seemed to be getting along nicely They were quite well - but I suppose you hear oftener than we from them. We had a host of letters yesterday besides that from Mate - one from Mary. She has had a very sore back but that was almost well - she wrote mostly aboutThey seem like old friends to us all since the writing of the Cofiant, I hope Mrs. Davies' health is improved. They are quite well at Jane's - Anna is about as usual - she has all that her strength can bear - The baby is pretty well now and very winsome - We are glad you are doing so well.
