User-Contributed Transcription So. Hadley, March 25, 52.Dear parents:  Forgive me, kind mother, for not answering you letter before this. We had just sent a letter home and therefore it was not necessary to answer for a day or so. But that day or two has extended till now. Thank you very much for that motherwort. We have made some tea twice and think it has done us some good. We could not make it without getting permission of Miss Peabody and we neglected doing so for several days, and this, to tell the truth was one reason why we did not write sooner, I wanted to tell you we had taken part of it. I does not taste very bad, I think it is sweet instead of bitter, for it has just come from our home. John says, you have been anxious, on account of my having the mumps. I am sorry I said any thing about it as I do not think that was what ailed me. I guess it was nothing but ague in my head. I thought because the rest or some of them had it, I did. I am now quite well. You see by Henry's letter that Death has been in our midst. We were not much acquainted with this young lady though we knew her, and met with her every day. We feel that this is a call for us also to be ready. We know not but Death will take some
