User-Contributed Transcription was to suffer for this transgression, and severely too. I became so costive that the coarsest kind of food, with the help of clysters failed to remove the evil. My case I thought was a hard one. I made use of all the W. treatment which I thought, without risking too much, would benefit me, but all to no purpose. After injections nothing would return but blood, which, on account of my imperfect knowledge of Anatomy, alarmed me greatly. I came to the conclusion however, that it was folly & injurious for me to eat until my bowels would ach, and I gave up eating entirely for over 7 1/2 days, which reoccurred me greatly and made me very feeble. the last day I suffered much in body & mind and thought my trouble would end in Strangulated Hernia, and even? kill me. In this state of mind I concluded to go if I could to the nearest W. Cure, that, as I supposed then, only the Elmira institution,
