User-Contributed Transcription The DU house being built (largely by Grif) on the campus is in a commanding position. The "old" house is begging on the market. An offer of $3000 for it has been made, by Prof  Saunders.I was greatly impressed with the college comforts and general prosperity of the college, notwithstanding the pusinallimous (revised spelling) of the president and some of the faculty. Hamilton is plainly not in touch with the strong educational trend of today. On the contrary, it has great opportunities to become the leading college of the East, but spurns them, with hauteur. It imitates the proud old sea captain who preferred to become a hero and sink with his time honored vessel, instead of adopting modern methods of live saving. There are 100 Ham. Coll. grads holding college or Supts positions in the educational world able to put Ham. Coll. where she belongs. Well, old boy, sorry to bore you. Glad to hear from youWith best wishes Eli
