RMR 5/23/2020.by personal visitation we find a few religious people, generally of several denominations by conversation we gain their confidence & enlist their symptathies in the organization of a Union S. S. We hold public meetings and prepare the way to put the S. S. into operation. Could you see me, in a barn or a log school house- or in the grove beneath the shade of our lofty forest thus with from 25 to 75 children and youth around me, giving those that can read the Testament and forming classes, you would know the toil & blessedness of my S. S. missions. I find about 1/4 of the scholars that cannot read these I supply with Primers & Spellers. Hundreds are thus taught to read  Our school average about 40 scholars & 5 teachers. In the use of these we need at least $10 to $15 worth of books. The same settlements we raise all the funds needed but owing to the indifference of the people & the capacity of many we are called upon to make a great many donations. I am fully persuaded that these donations do great good. The hands of the few who have a heart to labor in the S. S. are thus strengthened, and children & pursuits otherwise destitute are thus supplied with good & useful books
