User-Contributed Transcription It seems that she found (and justly too I think) a good many sympathizers for she received eleven more votes in the County than I. It would hardly seem honorable in me to strenuously seek the election and then resign in about a month after qualifying which was what I meant to do. It would have probably thrown her out of the office and did me no good only have been an expense as I could not have made anything out of it. Will Hughes was elected County Treasurer which is quite a paying office. Well if nothing happens in the meantime to prevent, you may expect to see us about the 1st of February and we will doubtless rent Uncle John's farm provided he still wishes to rent when we get there. I am really glad that I was not elected to the office of superintendent
