Sweet dreams of love. Swift passed the days, each setting sun Proclaimed that all your work was done. When seated by the often door You listened for his sleep once more. Quick step of love.Ah! happy were those days that fled With not a cloud above your head. 'So months went by- a child was given That made your home an earthly heaven. Dear child of love. How little know you joys before! Twas only then your cup ran o'er. As th' babe you pressed with arms so warm And vowed that nought its life should harm. The tender dove. God loved it too, and greatly drew It from the ill that well he knew, Must be its position here belowAnd placed it where I will only know Eternal love To heal your heart so sorely riven, Another babe was erelong given. You wept while th' downy lips you pressed, And you drew it closely to your breast. In trembling love.
