User-Contributed Transcription Osawatomie Sept 11 1879Dear Aunt CynthiaYou must not expect a very long letter at the sight of this sheet it was the only kind we had in the house. I was very glad to get your last. I would like to have been to the picnic. We have not had a letter directly from Frank since he left but we got one from the young man that went with him he said Frank had no way of writing at present and he liked the plase but he was a little loansom there not being any young folks around. They are working about 15 miles apart and see each other about 3 times a week we have no heard but once from either of them. Father has not been very well for the last week or so. I think he has been having the chills he has been a little billious for the last day or two there is a great deal of sickness and deaths around here this fall. I
