User-Contributed Transcription should during vacation time so I came back to work tired. This year I took a real vacation. Mrs. Rogers, in whose home I live, invited me to spend, as one of the family, as much of my vacation as I liked in their summer cottage at Sylvan Lake. So I spent five weeks there enjoying the woods and the lake and particularly the birds. The scarlet tanagers were every day visitors and the hermit thrush sang to us every evening and often in the morning quite frequently coming close enough to be seen distinctly. We saw and positively identified about fifty kinds of birds. I spent one week boarding in a Y.W.C.A. camp at Brantingham Lake. That was very interesting and I loved the spirit of the place. There were more than sixty girls and women in camp, all dressed in Middies and bloomers and leading a real woods life. Then I spend a little more than a week with my cousin Perry Williams and his family in Lowville
