User-Contributed Transcription Do you remember Arly Brunlz? His Mother writes to me, that he is in the army. He is the only child too you know, and it is very hard for her to give him up. This is such a dark, gloomy day, and I think my feelings partake somewhat of the nature of the weather, for my being seems not to have a thought in it, and as it is almost chore time, think I will have to close for the present, and finish another time. Now will you not excuse this poorly written letter, and write me very soon my pen leeks at times, and has made so many blots and do please excuse my long delay, and I will try to do better next time With much love and good wishes for you Am as ever your loving friend Anna E.
