User-Contributed Transcription Turin, Nov. 14, 1887Dear Cousin Edward, I suppose you will expect when you see this letter that there is a request for something in it so I may as well come to the point at once, We have a new Lyceum just started here and although I am not a member I have been chosen as one of the chief disputants for next Monday evening. The question is: Resolved That Corporal Punishment should be abolished, and I have the affirmative sides, now what Iin top margin:about Thanksgiving? I thnk of going home to spend Sunday soon and if you are coming home befor long I would like to arrange to be there at the same time if possible. Please answer this letter anyway whether you send any arguments or not. This in haste fromYour CousinClara E--I recevied a short letter from Aunt Jennie tonight . She was well I think judging from what she said.
