User-Contributed Transcription Bessie says she should have sent for you had you been nearer but she felt that she needed speedy treatment. She wishes me also to say that one great relief to her bowels, and helping them to move, was drawing off some of the gas from them, by putting a piece of rubber tubing perhaps 12 in. long, on the suction end of the syringe, and inserting it, and then using it as I would for injections.
