Dear Jack-
I am grateful for the cautionary
literature which, with your unabated
zealousness in good works, you sent
me. But alas, it comes too late. Oh,
that I had known these things before!
It is indeed good to hear from
you. I hope all goes well; I hope
particularly that The Disinherited
is reissued. Hadn't heard of Powers'
novel. Was at Yaddo in the autumn
of '52, January of '60, and for six
weeks last summer. Am still teaching
at Lawrence. U of [?] Press issued
my Man in Motion, study of Faulkner's
Snopes Trilogy. Have a book on Joyce's
Dubliners half done. Have begged
off from doing more reviews for F[?]
at present; did the Baldwin at their
special request; hope to write more
for them when I find time.
My wife divorced me in '56 and
married an old friend of the family,
