User-Contributed Transcription small & very select group to come & form a tiny colony here. Lord knows, w/our 10 acres there's room enough! One advantage that appeals to me more & more - the nearness of true friends to help meet any emergency such as we old folks must expect now & then.  Bertie is, on the whole, somewhat better but has real ups & downs. Summer heat has always been very hard on her & now more so than ever, but we have air-conditioned the inside room & when she "feels the heat" she goes into "the deep freeze" & comes out refreshed & ready to carry on. She just had a wonderful trip to D.C, N.H. & NY to attend a 6-day seminar by Scott Nearing. Later in the fall we hope to take a long-delayed "wedding trip" to her native Tennessee &c.  Now I must turn to letters less fun to write, but important. I reckon I have over 200 piled up on desk, table & chairs. Our most affectionate greetings to you. Come & spend awhile w/us any time you feel so inclined. Yours, Fred Blossom Do you grow papayas? We are trying to but our 100 or so none doing so well, will probably all freeze to death this winter, alas!
