Description
Correspondence, writings, publications, photographs, etc. of Fred W. Thompson, I.W.W. official and historian, and president of the Charles H. Kerr Company. A radical in his native Canada, Thompson came to the United States in 1922 and joined the I.W.W. He remained an active member for over 65 years. In the 1970s, he joined a Kerr Publishing Company rescue effort. There is considerable correspondence with Wobblies, some addressed to Franklin H. Rosemont, and also photographs of union members.

Oxford Mich.in type (file Detroitin pen F. W. Thompson I recieved your letter concerning a certain Philip ?Krik? in relation to Wobbly history in Detroit. I don't even know if there is substantial I.W.W. history in Detroit. To my knowledge the only wobbly participation to any significance was the Briggs strike here. T The only F.W one that I kew [sic] of that was active in that strike was F. W. Frank Cicarelli who has been dead many years. The only people here who could (possibly) help ?Krik? in any way, you already know of, i.e. Verlain and Lucas both branch secretaries and delegates at one time. Then, there are the Wayne State archives, which I should think would cover all known wobbly history, here. I was able to contact Harry Riseman and had an interesting talk. I was unaware that he was the lawyer who was instrumental in stopping your deportation, altho we din't ?broch? on that subject. He, of course immediately recognized your name, in response to my question, does the name of Fred Thompson jar in your memory?
