Included are numerous transcripts of Darrow's letters, a biographical sketch of Parton, and excerpts from her journal that refer to Darrow, all done by Parton's daughter Margaret Parton (Hussey).

Any how it is getting so near the anniversary of ? Christ that I am moved to write. Life drifts on just the same always working. Always trying this time succeeding but finding more ? and contented in life as the days go on. My latest ? is Wilson & Baker & the net of the ? crowd who not only are losing their present glory but seem bound to write themselves down in history as the bringers of freedom. I cant see how they ? the victims of war lingering in prison now that the war is over and the world is safe for Democracy Neither can I see why ? papers and good people are ? their frenzied crusade against ? & the blatant majority following the senseless military leaders of Loyal Legion in their violations of well defined rights
