Description Material relating to the friendship between Clarence Darrow and journalist Mary Field Parton, which includes sixty-one of his letters to her, several other letters, short articles by Darrow, clippings, and photographs. Included are numerous transcripts of Darrow's letters, a biographical sketch of Parton, and excerpts from her journal that refer to Darrow, all done by Parton's daughter Margaret Parton (Hussey).

I do long of you & Lem & wish I could see you oftener.  I gave a letter to a man named Miligan to call on you & Lem.  I want you to take pains to see him & show him around, he is a very fine fellow, he was [paper torn in half here; it is missing text]enough is just the faded text going is for a place in the San Joaquin valley where he will probably have a nice little ? to amuse him.  He is liberal minded and inteligent & very generous.  Be sure to be good to him.  I wont let so much time pass again without writing.  I never ? I could write letters like you.  I would write all the time.   Ever with love---CS.D.
