Summary Day book, comprised mainly of personal accounts payable and received, of Charles Fletcher. The entries begin when Fletcher lived in Woodstock, Vermont, and continue after his move to Fremont Township, Illinois in 1836. Early Woodstock entries mention the name Plutarch Houghton, who would later become Fletcher's neighbor and father-in-law in Fremont. In addition to records of transactions, the journal includes inventories and information regarding a business partnership, probably with his brother-in-law Paschal P. Houghton.

Biographical/Historical Note Charles Fletcher was born in 1806 in Woodstock, Vermont, and settled in Fremont Township, Illinois in 1836.
