92wound was about 3 inches above the first which was examined, and found that the arrow instead of penetrating the body, had struck a rib bone with a force sufficient to split the bone and to bend the Iron barb into a peculiar shape. This point was easily removed; By far the most painful of my wounds was one upon the head. In dodging my head down to avoid an arrow fired from the front of me, it struck near the crown. I thought with a great deal of force; glancing off. cutting the scalp to the bone for a space of two or three inches; the force of the arrow stunned me somewhat and came very near knocking me down, It pained me severely, and bled very freely running down on every side of me. all over my face and down my body, and legs and was still bleeding so that I might be quite easily tracked by the blood I had three other wounds one in the hand an [sic] one in each arm. which were quite painful. and made ugly sores after the arrow points were removed by Hedden, but of course no danger to life or
