230Thursday July 4thDrove towards Corvallis. and Camped 10 miles from itFriday July 5thReached Corvallis and Swam our Cattle across the Willamette River at this place. they swam very badly, getting in the middle of the Stream, and drifting down Stream for about one mile before we succeeded in landing them Saturday July 6thDrove past Albany and camped on Oak Creek a small tributary of the Calipooia which empties in to the Willamette a short distance above Albany.. To day we had a fair view of the "Sisters".. Mt Hood. Mt Jefferson, and Mt St Helens of Washington TerritorySunday July 7th Reached the South fork of "Santiam" a stream of 50 yds wide, flowing through thick timbered bottoms, forded this Stream and camped about 2 miles from itMonday July 8thPassed the little Town of "Scio" and thence to the North fork of Santiam, a stream of 60 yds wide where we swam our cattle and ferried our horses.. Camped on the Sublimity RoadTuesday July 9th The Road was very brushy to day. we made a short drive, passing Sublimity
