User-Contributed Transcription 117eight miles to the divide between Tucanon & Touchet and 4 miles further brought me to the Touchet at the crossing of the Nez Perce trail. from this point I followed down stream in a Westerly course for 15 m to the crossing of the Walla Walla and Snake River Wagon Road, Along Touchet is rich narrow bottoms of land all claimed by stock raisers and farmers, At the "crossing of Touchet" I put up for the nightFrid Aug 10th Followed the wagon road 14 m through a hollow or dry ravine, to dry Creek, which was not dry, but contained a good supply of water from this it is seven miles to Walla W. in a S.S.E. course over gently rolling country, where I arrived at noon but did not stop but a short time, but pushed on and camped on pine creekSat Aug 11th Camped upon Wild horse creek seven miles from its mouthSund Aug 12th Arrived at my stopping place at the upper crossing of the Umatilla at 9 A.M.Monday Aug 13th Started in the P.M. for Grand Ronde Valley, situated in the Blue Mts upon the Emigrant Road, some 60 miles from here, camped at the Birch Grove Spring at foot of Blue Mts having travelled 15 m Here I found a trader encamped, also an Emigrant train of nine wagons, principly [sic] families from the Western States. their destination was the Willamette except three wagons that were bound for Walla Walla
