The Rev. G.W. Wuich?

Secretary of the Board of Trustees
My dear Sir.
I hereby tender to the Board of

Trustees through you, my resignation of
the Samuel Holmes professorship of
Practical Theology in the Hartford Theological
Seminary to take effect Oct. 1. 1892.underlined
This action I have been constrained
by the irresistible conviction that it is
my single course of duty to accept the professorship
of Christian Sociology and the English Bible
in the Chicago Theological Seminary.
So deeply have I been informed with the grave
responsibilities incurred by any decision involving such
high interests and sacred trusts as one identified with both of these important spheres.
