Oh Bill --
I was just setting out in the stern in my Swiss cafe watching the sunset when the Cumberland River pilot -- quite noble looking age 50 came out and proposed to me! He "needs a companion" & he "likes my looks!" I told him I was over 60 but he said that made no difference he has $10000 saved & he wants to "settle down." He has been pilot 17 years for the Cumberland River, & is a "quiet man with no bad habits" I was only thinking of you!  How come? I have talked to him once before & and he was not drunk. His name is Daniel Dippel & I told him I was very wise & would pick out a lonesome you woman among the passengers. He seemed quite depressed but said O.K. His name is not George.
Love, Mother
I miss you awful.
