Let us return to the city, get some refreshments and be ready to gaze at the comical sights that will no doubt meet our vision today as this day is to be celebrated as usual and all the people from the raggedest boy in the street to the greatest nabob will make this appearance in order to spend 4th of July somewhere besides at home. Breakfast is dispatched in due form and we will take a seat by the window, the sun has already performed a large share of his days work and the people begin to pass. Some boys are seen passing with pop guns, wooden swords, paper caps etc. Some numbers of the military company are next in order followed by men women and children of all shades and hues going in the same direction, but here is one going in the opposite direction, ah! I have not forgotten that form or countenance, it is the same lady that we saw during our morning walk. How happy she looks! Let us follow her to her home. She is carrying a bundle, perhaps she has been making purchases. She enters her home that is no palace or place of luxury but a quiet pretty cottage and is greeted by a brother and a sister, apparently much younger than herself, the only remaining members of the household. Joyful the greeting, though they have been separated but a short time but joyful because the sister brings welcome news. She tells them of her success in obtaining means by which to aid them in their endeavors to obtain an education. What news could be more welcome to their hearts! The brother and sister resume their studying and painting
