User-Contributed Transcription Decision of CharacterNotwithstanding the importance of this trait of Character in all and especially youth it is seldom alluded to by those whose duty it is to instruct them. It should be lectured upon often by those who are able to handle the subject, that its importance may be seen and the evil avoided which result from a neglects of its proper cultivation. One of the greatest and most frequent faults of youth in general is Indecision of Character. They are too apt to pin their faith onto the sleeve of another. It is proper and even desirable that they should be ready and willing to receive instruction from whatever source it may be obtained, but it should not be received without reflection and if anything very important is presented it should be weighed and viewed in every possibly light in order that its imperfections as well as its beauties may be seen. For several reasons care should be taken not to form conclusions before the subject has been duly considered . Persons who have no principles of right, will sometimes clothe false and pernicious doctrines in habitments of grandeur in order to deceive weak minded persons that they may get their money and thus gratify their insatiable desire for riches. It will strengthen the intellectual powers to reflect and deduce conclusions which will be of great use in after life. The importance of having regular formed opinions on every general subject is very often felt in society. If they be formed carefully and arranged in such a manner that they may be expressed with ease and in language N11
