User-Contributed Transcription somewhat modified by the works of art claims our attention. The cool and damp weather which always comes at the opening of Spring is over and we may raise the window that our view of the surrounding scenery may be enlarged. The window raises and immediately the room is filled with the most delicious perfumes, the beholder is stupified for a moment with the shock produced by the grandeur of the scene. Through the vines trellised over the window may be seen the bright and beautiful queen of night with her myriads of stars casting there silent though comprehensive beams upon the earth to gladden the hearts of men and to display complete the beauty of the scene. As those bright orbs mirror themselves in the wide expanse of water that spreads itself at the foot of the gently sloping yard, covered with the most beautiful flowers, plants and shrubs, how can their beauty be compared with works of another kind? Words are inadequate to paint the beauty of such a scene but a sense of any own insignificance strikes me not on account of my poverty in regard to property but my poverty of soul. A lover of truth.
