Steadfast and tender in the hour of need, Gentle in thought, benevolent in deed. Whose looks have power to make dissension ceaseWhose smiles are pleasant and whose words are peace. They who have lived as harmless as the dove,Teachers of truth, and ministers of love.Love for all moral power, all mental grace,Good for the tranquil joy which virtue brings,Love for the Giver of all good things.True followers of that soul exalting planWhich Christ laid down to bless, and govern man. They who can calmly linger to the last,Survey the future and recall the past,And with that faith which triumphs over painFeel well assured they have not lived in vain. Then calmly wait their hour of final rest,These, these are the truly blest. How was Mrs. Weaver, Miss Kendall, [?] and all the rest when you last heard from them? I have not received any letter from either of them lately. In reply to your inquiry I would say that I am still at the engraving and continue to be as much pleased as ever. We are all well. Accept our love and remember us to all friends. From your friendSarah Burger.
